What LFW SS’17 Taught Us… And How To Find It On The High Street NOW!

A week has passed, a week has passed since my post man was nowhere to be seen with my mass amounts of invitations to LFW.

Non existent invitations more like!

Having said that I have had my time to soak up the glossies and surf the blog-sphere in the venture of finding my favourite trends. I have chosen my three favourite trends from the catwalk and I have picked a few pieces from the high street ready to get your prepped for S/S’17.. Talk about planning ahead!

So ruffles, huge puffy sleeves

Christopher Bailey started the ball rolling for Burberry with ruffled over-sized shirts, they were seen on both the men and the women; looking to the past as an ode to Virginia Woolf’s Orlando (with a copy of the novel left on each guest’s seat). Bailey introduced the collection as “a love letter to the past and to English history and a kind of dressing up box to visit and revisit.”

Inspired the silhouettes created on the catwalk  my most recent #ootd on my Instagram shows a chunky belt to cinch in at the waist and creates a more masculine texture with the clash the feminine silhouette. In the winter it would follow with a long line coat (video to come soon!) which would add androgynous vibes this is iconic in reflecting British style for Burberry.

Tv Shows That You Should Watch In Your Twenties

In the regular formation of a new blog post the standard procedure would be an introduction or a facts about me. Let’s face the facts, this would not interest you guys straight away because you don’t know me just yet. Quite frankly I also don’t want a judgement on my bizarre habits that will gradually unfold. We will save that later, a few posts down the line and when you grow to a fond attraction to me you cannot bare to live without.

Over my break from university this summer my days and nights estranged from my 39 hour weeks at work have been filled with binge watching Netflix and finding myself trying to grasps the personas of numerous characters with admiration or finding a tragic similarity.

Broad City

ilana-glazer-yas-queen

WARNING!!! “Yaaaas queen” will become apart of your vocabulary.

Nothing is more relatable than the relationship shared between Abbi and Allana, you can find aspects of their friendship in your best ones, let’s face it they are US.

One of the reasons the show is such a success is that it’s a modern day representation. The days are long gone since tracing up and down the streets of Manhattan in louboutons and chasing after their “Big”. Women protagonists are often shown often dawdling over their lost loves they are obsessed with each other. Their obsession isn’t entirely an “obsession” it reflects the traits of a real friendship today.

Abbi and Allana discuss the latest failings of their lives from job hunting, finances and tragic moments like when Abbi got high and went on a massive rampage in Whole Foods to soften the munchies.

Only downside is that it just needs to be longer than 20 minutes

Any show that shows a young girl I can idolise on her way to reaching a career in fashion I am hooked!

This is a total throwback from my teenage years. This was the show that helped me try to attempt to “mature” my style . I was in love with LC everything… and oh my oh my the Speidi drama, and that powerful line when Lauren says ” I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you” I have always wanted to master that line in an argument but unfortunately never grasped the courage to do so.

Nostalgic style inspirations are still the master reason to why I would hunt down my box sets. Now looking back I don’t know what I was thinking … Low waist skinny jeans and a tank top would not do justice for my figure. Even if LC did look great, unfortunately I will never be LC.. so for now I will stick with the black chunky headband and dream about owning a Chanel 1.55 one day.

(Don’t bother watching it after season 5- Not a fan of Kristin Cavallari)

2 Broke Girls

Poor.. and struggling to find ends meet financially?.. and in life generally. Another show that shows twenty something struggling to make it Brooklyn which reflects on an aspect of many people’s reality in a comedic way… My only thought is why are there neither any female duo comedies similar in London?

This show was in it’s prime during season 1 and 2 but it hard to not relate to any “dynamic duo” as any tragic incident they have it may console the incident you and your friend had last weekend.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schimdt

raw

If your a fan of Parks & Recreation, The Office and 30 Rock you will find yourself howling at this.

Not your typical single girl in New York, Tina Fey has created such a form in a parody through Kimmy Schimdt. The majority of tv shows showing a girl attempt to break the city often shows them admitting defeat, but the positives reflected throughout this show is from Kimmy’s hilarious determination to never give up.

The People Behind The Camera Lens #1

IMG_0675IMG_0667IMG_0739

Ladies and Gentlemen this is Colm.

I never get the opportunity to really thank people for helping with my blog. After nagging them to take a photo of me, well – when I say photo I object and mean like 70?

This will be a monthly series where I introduce you to the guys that help me with my blog. take them for coffee & cake or a burger & pint depends on what entices them as a form of payment.

The people behind the camera shooting ootd’s or Lookbooks or my blogging and style inspirations I wouldn’t be on here without them today. I also think I owe it to them after standing in the cold until their fingers go numb.

I know everything about him, so let me introduce you to him…

So You Want To Work In Fashion Or Journalism?

12417674_1681461128806653_2648544993749805397_n“You want to work in fashion?”

“Do you realise it’s such a touch industry to get into?”

“It’s all about connections”

“Oh so you want to design clothes”

“You’ve watched Devil Wears Prada though? It looks brutal…”

You know that look, that sarcastic and questioning tone you get from strangers, friends and family. Instead of snapping at them you just bite your tongue instead. I don’t understand how someone can shut someone’s dream like that. I mean, it’s good to think realistic at times but then again I am a big believer in following your dreams! Do you think if Christopher Kane, The late Alexander McQueen  Susie Laou (Bubble), Tavi Genvinson quit when the first bit of negativity came their way, they would be where they are today?

Answer is no

Like myself, you are probably here because you want to work in fashion. You will understand the pain of trying to prove your point to some very opinionated people. It maybe even coming to university season. For whatever reason, I am here to help in a personal and understanding way:

2015 Make – Up Favourites

IMG_0377.jpg

Let’s rewind to January 2015. I was quite the make – up… well beauty novice. Prime example being that I used a matte foundation when I have dry skin.

I didn’t use products that would help warm my face and give it that extra umph. It’s so bizarre looking back over the year, I cannot think about commencing with my routine without a highlighter or primer.

I often got told “You look tired” or “Are you ill?” – No, unfortunately I wasn’t aware of what products emphasize my features and qualities.

Let’s get the ball rollin’ and discuss my make-up favourites of 2015.

Something To Do In London: Up At The O2.

12188976_1655443421408424_7552945836581455257_nFotorCreated

A few weeks ago my brother and I ticked off one of the major things on my London Bucket List (due to be a blog post soon). Looking back at these photos I am struggling to understand why the O2 looks so small, trust me it wasn’t, steep. We went the night U2 were performing, and it was crazy to think I was climbing on the building that Bono was in, you can’t say that everyday!

So here’s some trivia: The O2 arena used to be better known as the Millennium Dome. It’s the second largest arena in the UK, and can hold around 20,000 people and I can honestly say that the photos make it look deceptively small.
